Claire Marcil Schwadron started her career at Artivate as an outreach coordinator back in 2000, when we were known as Class Acts Arts.

In 2003, Claire became Director of Project Youth ArtReach (PYA), our core program focused on providing visual, performing, and literary arts opportunities for teens and adults inside detention centers. During her tenure, Claire has become a national leader and innovator in arts-in-corrections, expanding PYA programs across Maryland, creating a model for culturally and artistically diverse workshops and community collaborations inside correctional facilities.

Claire became Artivate’s fourth executive director in March 2020 and worked tirelessly to assure that Artivate remained an asset to the community, despite the massive challenge presented to all of us with the COVID-19 pandemic. She was instrumental in transitioning Artivate – and our artists – into the virtual space when in-person programs were not available to our audiences

This month, Claire’s tenure comes to a close as she retires from Artivate. Please join us in celebrating Claire by leaving a message, a photo, or a video on Claire’s virtual group card at www.kudoboard.com/boards/zfCHeoij.
