In this season of giving thanks, we are grateful to you and to all of our supporters. You make it possible for Artivate to continue our work with talented, professional teaching artists who bring high quality, educational programming to communities throughout the state of Maryland, the District of Columbia, and northern Virginia. Your support continues the tradition of the “Artivate Roster,” an annual publication featuring thirty-two of our 50+ artists, focusing on content appropriate for educational and family-centered community settings and adaptable for all audiences.

The quality of the music and the skill of the musicians was excellent–not something you always get in school assemblies. The structure of the program kept the children’s attention and was educational in addition!

In 2018, Artivate’s teaching artists presented over 550 cultural arts performances, more than 760 hands-on workshops, and dozens of artist-in-residence programs in educational settings, community-based public venues, and correctional settings throughout the region. Their experience and proficiency allow us to offer hundreds of schools, community organizations, and public agencies the opportunity to work with one organization to bring programming to their communities that spans a wide variety of artistic disciplines and cultural traditions. Your support allows us to provide an environment in which our teaching artists can hone their skills, develop new programming, and collaborate with other artists.

The students really enjoyed their music, the dancing, and the story telling. Wonderful assembly!

While many of our artists live locally and are available throughout much of the year, several are touring artists who travel nationally and internationally, sharing their artistry around the world. Your support assures these artists, who would be a great loss to the region, continue to have Artivate to coordinate regional programming on their behalf.

When the teacher showed us how to use the potters’ wheel, I loved it! I wasn’t sure I could do it – but I made that! I wish we could go to pottery every day!
